Pittsworth Beat Brothers

Pittsworth V Brothers
The Danes RAFF GROUP first grade team turned in a near faultless display against an undermanned Brothers team securing their third win on the trot to start the 2017 season.
Brayden Gibbs turned in another first class near 80 minute performance and was awarded Man of the Match and Players Player accolades. While there was not a bad player for the Danes, Gibba was well supported by James Dempsey and Cameron Miller. Elijah Saltner made an impressive first grade debut scoring three tries and big man Marty Stevens was also impressive.
The GOODYEAR AUTOCARE Reserve grade competed well again this week but were far from good enough beaten 20-6. The effort was there but their execution let them down at crucial areas on the paddock.
Solid games from Joel Naumann, Jamieson Dunlop and Dean Twiddle.
Coach Mick Jocumsen said, "it is always going to be tough going trying to find that balance if we don’t get to training and train together as a team”.,
The A & J HOME IMPROVEMENTS C Grade Danes took on Brothers over the weekend and came away with a 24-10 victory. For our second hit out of the year player numbers were good and the fresh legs helped us run away with the game late after a narrow 6-4 halftime lead. Tries to Travis Short, Andrew Boyes, Dan Linwood, Timothy Phipps and Jake Johnston. Superboot Jake only converting 2 from 5.
A big human effort from Michael Dagan saw him take out the player’s player award. Our next game is after the Easter Break when the Danes take on the Hawks down in Gatton. Training is on Thursday nights.
A frustrating draw for the GRAHAM MCDONALD JOINER U18s against Brothers in an ugly encounter last sunday. Pittsworth jumped to an early lead after Brothers had three players sinbined in the first 5five minutes. In the second half a massive penalty count against the boys saw them lucky to hang on for a draw. Great effort from all players with Liam Short winning players player after a mighty game.
Coaches comment
Very proud of my team who were exceptional against nearly impossible odds. U18 football is great to watch and I would love the referees to put the whistle away and let the teams play. Shorty was outstanding, also happy with Jayden Moore and K.B who are developing nicely as footballers. Well done lads.
This week the Danes will welcome the Goondiwindi Boars to the Kennel for Friday night Footy.
